Happy Halloween
Today I shot about 500 shots in 30 minutes of the elementary school Halloween parade. Here's me in the reflection of one of the costumes. Playoff football game is tonight. I'll be shooting the game while kids are trick or treating. Happy Halloween everyone!

Generation Text at the Second City
Wow, what a performance! Generation Text was quite a hit at the Second City in Novi Michigan. This student show really generated a lot of laughs. Here are a couple shots of the cast:
I really enjoyed the show, and especially liked the club Cosmo skit.

Wedding Shots
I've been editing so many photos lately that I think my eyes are going crazy. Here are a few photos I went through today that I thought were just great. These are from a wedding this summer. I'm breaking my blog rule here by posting shots taken over a week ago, but I thought these should be seen.
This first shot was the bride waiting to go meet her new husband.
I really like the imagery of this next shot.

Rochester Park Portrait Session
It all started two years ago with a coupon. A Christmas gift in the form of an IOU for a family portrait session was given and then forgotten about (so they thought.) Steve told me how the grand parents presented the coupon a few weeks ago and requested a family portrait before Christmas time. So all ten of them met me at the Rochester park on Sunday and we had a blast. The following is just a sneak peak of this amazing family.
Closeup + Baby + knit Cap = CUTE
Happy in the leaves. This is fall to me.
I really love these overhead shots a great deal.
We did not feed the duck, it was just as curious to know what Grandpa was talking about as the boy was.
As soon as this one sat down I had to take this shot.
They look happy now, but I bet 5 years ago these siblings were fighting and chasing each other.

Lake Orion Vs Clarkston 2008
Wow what a game! Clarkston was a tough opponent. The theme for this game was bumps and bruises. The scars of a long season are starting to show, and I found many opportinities to capture the scars during this raining game. The mist changed the light dramatically on Friday refracting all of the light and making it easy to shoot this game.
Here's our quarterback throwing another successful pass.
This next shot is my favorite from the night.
Keeping with the theme of bumps and bruises:
Ok, maybe this one.
Touchtown!!!!
There are so many great shots. Follow this link for the rest of the game shots:

Born To Be Wild
Tonight was an amazing photo shoot at the Lake Orion Football game. Lake Orion beat Clarkston and are now on their way to the playoffs. Here's a shot I took tonight of a piece of music that had been discarded from one of the band members.
And here's tonight's quarterback posting for the camera after the game.

Cross Country Line
I took this while watching the cross country runners race the other day. This is the line that they use to guide the runners through the course. I love how the fall colors look this time of year and think it adds to this shot.

Fall Colors
This week's photo challenge was the term "fall colors." I took about 700 pictures of fall colors this weekend, and most of them had people in them. I wanted to include this shot in the challenge because of my love for the blue sky as a back drop and I really liked how the yellow of the leaves contrasted with the blue sky. Take a look at Kevin's blog to see how he interpreted this photo challenge.

Fall Colors Sneak Peak
As promised, here's the sneak peak from Sunday's portrait session. Here's one of the twins giving me one of those cute curious looks
At one year old, this guy can really move. Here he is looking taller than ever.
I really like these overhead photographs.
Here's a shot of the big sister without the cookie monster stuffed animal.
Keeping 1 year old's smiling is a challenge that Dad was up for.
I really like how the gazebo frames this next shot along with the leaves in the background.
I hope you enjoy this sneak peak. I really had a great time meeting you and having the opportunity to photograph a moment in your lives.

Hey, Camera Guy
What's that guy doing with the camera? This a sneak peak to the sneak peak from yesterday's fall color shoot with an amazing family. I'll post more tomorrow. We toured the lovely Van Hoosen Farms in Rochester for this fall colors shoot, and I am extremely excited with the results. I am still working through the images, but here's one shot for now. Can you see me (the camera guy) in this photo?

Scouting Location
I was out scouting locations for a portrait session on Saturday and found this lonely park bench under this amazing tree. The colors at this time of the year are really amazing and I am seeing them this year with a whole new perspective.

Driving Fall Colors
My wife took this shot while I was driving. I asked her to put the camera in wide angle mode (18mm) and take a shot so that the camera captures the hood of the car.

Water texture
I have taken this shot many times, but last night the light was just right. This is the water as the sunset was hitting it. I thought it would make a great texture for the background of something. What do you think?

Sunset Photography
Adding a bit of a strobe makes my girl look like she's floating and looks like she's photo shopped in front of this sunset.

Action Sport Tuesday
It's action sport Tuesday (ok I just made that up) with three more shots from Sunday's portrait session. All week I had been preparing mentally for this shoot and trying to think about who this family is and how to tell their story. I knew sports were a big part of the family and so lowering the basketball hoop to dunk level helped tell their story. I hope you enjoy these as much as I enjoyed taking them.

Fall Color Portrait Session Sneak Peak
We could not have asked for better weather yesterday. The fall colors were in full swing, the sun was just right, and the water was not too cold on the photographer (I had to get my feet wet for a couple shots.) Here's a sneak peak from yesterday's photo session.
The girls started off the photo shoot with a few poses in the grass. Here's a shot of the ladies smiling (notice the missing tooth.)
Here is the mandatory Edward Maurer Jumping photo:
And yet another jumping photo:
This brick wall had some great light and was a terrific location for some individual portraits.
Don't worry mom, I got a picture of him smiling too. I like the serious look he gave me here.
I saved my favorite shot for last. I love everything about this next shot from the lighting to the composition to the sense of happiness in Mom and Dad's faces.
Thanks for allowing me to capture a moment in time for you today. Stay tuned for your proof book.
