Empire Memorial Lighthouse

Empire Memorial Lighthouse
Empire Memorial Lighthouse

This lighthouse is located in Empire Michigan and was built in 1991 as a memorial to Robert H. Manning, a life-long resident of Empire and avid fisherman. I've seen many shots of this lighthouse but none from this direction. Taking the unique shot of something that no one else has done is quite a challenge when traveling, but I think it makes the adventure that much more fun. Everyone can take a picture of this building from a slight distance, so the challenge is to find that unique perspective. That is what I love about photography.

Clouded Turn

Only Clouded
Clouded Turn

Another one from my most recent photo walk. The sun was gone behind the clouds and almost had set, so I had to increase the ISO a bit to compensate.

Fly Be Free

Umbrella set free
Fly Be Free

This umbrella was the prop for yesterday's photo shoot and I felt like it needed to take flight. This one only took a few shots before the right one came out. The hands were accidentally in the shot, but I felt it told a bit more of the story here.

Corporate Cloudy

Corporate Cloudy

This corporate building was displaying the reflection of the sky so well on this late afternoon that I had to capture it's awesomeness.

Sun Beams

Evening Sun Beams
Sun Beams

Clouds and sun are easy targets for a photographer, but most require being in the right place at the right time with your camera. This was one of those situations. Later this same evening I missed an amazingly lit auburn sky, but I think this was better.

Sky Blue

Sky, originally uploaded by edwardjohnphotography.

I love photos of the sky for my desktop background. It gives me a sense of freedom and escape from the closed cubicle world that I sit beneath during the work day. I took a great photo of myself today running from camera. Stay tuned for that post on Thursday.
