Sunset after an awesome sunrise

The clouds were amazing on this day late last week. The way they blanketed the sky made it seem like there were waves in the air. The sunset was enhancing the effect and the look of the sky so much that I had to stop, turn my car around, and capture this moment in time.

Conversation between me and a friend while driving in my car today:
Me: I just saw another photo.
Friend: where? There was nothing there?
Me: I'll capture it when the sun gets lower on our way back.

Later.....
Me: Do you mind being in the shot?
Friend: Nope
Me: Walk over there while I grab my camera

This is what I saw today. My friend while he is a nice guy and completely awesome, he was not my complete vision for this shot. I envisioned an engaged couple walking together, holding hands, talking about their wedding day, and begin captured with the camera. For today's purposes, my friend was a good substitute. So imagine this photo with an awesome couple in love and maybe kissing near this tall grass.

Sledding With Style

Captured these photos of my son sledding today. The ramp made for some great air time, but the landing was hard on the belly.

Indian Springs Metro Park Sunset

After Saturday's engagement session I began driving out of the Indian Springs Metro Park, and this sunset was too good to pass up. I almost got frost bite trying to capture this, but it was worth it. The first image was taken with my iPhone, and the second with my D700. Enjoy.

Inspire the photo challenge

My current photo assignment is the word INSPIRE. Each individual letter needs to be a separate image, and the images will be put together to form the word INSPIRE. I have found this challenge to be very difficult because I want the letters to each mean something to me. The assignment is due on Monday Feb 9th, so stay tuned for what I am able to come up with.

Meet my alarm system

Man's best friend is also a great alarm system. Here's my dog playing in the snow. We have several inches of the stuff right now.

A jumping tour of Lansing brought us to the Capital building. It was on this very location that I learned how to do a back handspring.

Here's a portrait of the architect of this snowwoman. The pink scarf was a great touch to this pint sized ball of snow and ice.

Dear Tracks

Dear Tracks

Working with Raw file formats sure takes up a lot of space. I understand that every time you move a jpg file around it loses some quality. I don't know if that is the truth or not, and it certainly goes against my engineering principles. I'm not willing to take a chance, so I am now taking all photos in Raw format and losing disk space quickly. The tracks in the snow near the girl are actually from dear that passed by recently. I love the angle of this shot with the sun peaking in the background. I really need photoshop lightroom to work with these files though.

Dodge Snow Choices

Here's another shot from my nostalgia photo assignment. I couldn't decide if this shot looked good in color or in Sepia, so I chose both to post today. Let me know which one (if either) you prefer best. I feel like there is something missing in this shot. Maybe I wasn't standing in the right location. According to Ansel Adams, "A good photograph is knowing where to stand." You be the judge.

Today was a long day of driving and no photo taking for Eddie. Stuck in a lot of snow and no opportunities to explore my craft of photography; I chose this photo as a representation of nostalgia because it was taken a month ago (a violation of my blog rules requiring photos taken within a week,) and the sign does appear to be old too. I took this shot on Magazine street in New Orleans on a terrific walk exploring the city. No dog was to be found when this shot was taken, but maybe the sign is a ruse.
