Another image for my "Thrown in the air" series. Random objects taking up space in my basement tend to get thrown in the air and then thrown in the garbage. Not the most efficient way of tidying things up, but it's a lot of fun.

Dirt Devil Thrown in the air

Every now and then I get the urge to take pictures of things thrown in the air. It's good father son bonding time. He tries to figure out how to throw odd objects into the air so that they will face the right direction for the camera. Meanwhile I try to aim, follow, and focus on the item and capture the shot at just the right time. It's great practice and I highly recommend it to any photographer. Just be careful of what you throw in the air. Pic items that will go in the trash anyway.

Jumping Around Lansing

A jumping tour of Lansing brought us to the Capital building. It was on this very location that I learned how to do a back handspring.

Action Sport Tuesday

It's action sport Tuesday (ok I just made that up) with three more shots from Sunday's portrait session. All week I had been preparing mentally for this shoot and trying to think about who this family is and how to tell their story. I knew sports were a big part of the family and so lowering the basketball hoop to dunk level helped tell their story. I hope you enjoy these as much as I enjoyed taking them.

After The Flight

After The Flight

This morning was like every other morning until I left my home and discovered this lovely balloon had just landed in a field near my house. You may remember this from my posting a few weeks ago titled "Just a Balloon" Yet again I was surprised by this amazing thing and happy to have my camera with me. This balloon belongs to Sky Adventures, and they operate out of Oxford Michigan. The people that were riding this morning really seemed to have enjoyed themselves, and the staff was nice enough to allow me to photograph the balloon. I suggest giving them a call if you are ever in the mood for a hot air balloon ride.

This last one is my favorite shot. It shows the riders after their morning lift. You can almost read their minds as they sadly watch the balloon deflate.

I think the pink Crocks really sell this shot. This girl was practicing here skateboarding skills when I grabbed this shot. I had to lay down on the cement to get the angle, but it really works well.

Just A Balloon

There I was minding my own business and this balloon appears out of no-where. Ok, I could here the thing coming, but it was low to the water and making it's rounds near the city and lakes. The colors were amazing and the sky was completely clear of clouds.
