Pulled this from a shoot I took last year, but I just discovered it. Forgot that I had taken this.

Capturing the serious from the funny
Miranda is rarely serious and yet somehow amongst the frames of shots taken at her portrait shoot I managed to capture this gem. I really love the expression and light in this shot.

1/20th Challenge
Recently I challenged those on the Edward John Photography Facebook fan page to a 1/20 second photo shoot. Basically the idea is to take a photo at 1/20th of a second hand held with no tripod. It's a great exercise to challenge yourself to hold the camera steady. Brace your elbows in toward your body, breath out, pull the trigger very softly.
Here's my 1/20th challenge. Taken at f2.8 with ISO 800 around dusk.

The Daffodil shot
This past Sunday I hosted an engagement session photo walk for local photographers and I had every shot planned.....Until this one. It's one of those moments where you see something and the light bulb goes off in your head. My clients see the expression on my face when it happens and they learn to smile when the see it; they know the awesome is coming. We walked by these daffodils and I immediately saw this shot.
