Running The Curve

I was laying down in dress pants for this shot, but it was worth it.

Dragon Hurdler

My son asked me to capture him hurdling for his facebook profile picture, so we took advantage of the empty track and nice light and photographed him in just the right location on the track. I really like this shot and am so proud of him and his accomplishments so far.  By the way, if you're critiquing his hurdling form, his left knee on his trail leg needs to be a bit higher.

Track Season

Track Season

One of the most rewarding things that I do is to coach the hurdles for the track team. Here's a shot from this past week's Lake Orion High school track meet.

Tracks From My Youth

Tracks From My Youth
Tracks From My Youth

I grew up relatively near these tracks and every time I passed by them I felt like they needed to be captured on film. I think having an eye for images for me goes way back to the days as a kid when I would see these train tracks and wish I had a camera. I was traveling in Taylor this week and passed by them again, only this time I had the camera on me. The way the tracks go on to infinity really captivates me and makes me wonder what is down the line. I hope you enjoy this shot because it means more to me than just a picture, it reminds me of my youth and the origins of my passion for photography.

Portrait of a track star

Sidelined Hurdler
Portrait of a track star

This track star had a bit of a mishap this year with her knee, but that didn't stop her from posing for this great portrait. She's extremely talented athlete and I know these crutches are only a temporary thing. I told her it was an MTV pose and she graciously smiled for the camera. This is one of my favorite portraits to date.

Portrait Of A Track Star

Track Inspiration
Portrait Of A Track Star

Just look at the determination and concentration on this athlete. I captured this moment earlier this week at a track meet. I was able to capture many great sports action shots that day, but I find these behind the scenes shots much more enjoyable.
