Sun Worship

It was the reflection of the sun off the glass windows that made me stop for this shot. Looking for light. I learned a lot from this little photograph. It's amazing how much we can learn every time we shoot.

I chose to try a hand holding technique that I learned from a book. It's a method of having off camera flash while hand holding. My right hand holds the camera and presses the trigger while my left hand holds the flash. The thing that makes this technique interesting is that my left arm is wrapped under the camera to give the camera stability. I looked a little like a pretzel when taking the picture, but I think the off camera results are worth it. So if you see me at a wedding wrapping my arms around myself you will know why.

Sun Beams and Morning Dust

The dust in the air is actually from the road. The county doesn't seem to have the budget to spray down the road to keep the dust down this year. Makes for some great photos though.

Long Lake Snowy Sunrise

The sunrise over long lake. I know I've taken this shot before, but there were some things about this sunrise that compelled me to capture it.

Long Lake Sunrise

Another sunrise photo from yesterday. This photo was taken moments before the other one. Notice how the sky was a completely different shade of orange and the blue is nowhere to be seen. I was so happy I had my camera with me on this morning.

Here's a shot of this morning's sunrise as it rose above the football field. Tomorrow night I get the opportunity to shoot the varsity football game, and I am completely geeked about it. Stay tuned for shots from the game.

I took this photo just one week ago, so it fits my blog rules of taken within the week. I took this at about 7am while on a drive and it was one of those moments where I had to stop the car and get out the trusty Nikon D80. The sun was hitting the dock with some really warm light and the morning fog was just hovering over the pond.

The only good part about waking up early is the sunrise (with some exception for coffee and eggs.) This morning's sunrise was a delight. I hope you enjoy it as much as I did. A little bit of post processing was dun to bring out the richness of the sun's color using Paint.Net. Taken with a Canon Powershot SD750.
