The creativity in this door makes me want to be a better photographer. The artistry here is truly amazing and I was awed by it.

The crack in the door

One last photo of St. Benedicts Door.  The craftsmanship on this door is stunning.  The handles are seamlessly in the door and you can't tell that they are there until you naturally grab the door to open it.

I know the guy that made this door and I finally had the opportunity to see it today. Wow is it amazing. The detail is overwhelming.

The current photo assignment that Kevin of Kevin's Photography and I have been working on is "door knob." In order to capture this photo assignment I took the classic route and found all kinds of door knobs from the front of a church, the door to a caboose, but I kept coming back to this shot of the door to a log cabin. This is the door to a log cabin that was built in 1850 and home to Andrew and Elizabeth Strong and their Children (hence the "Strong" Door.) Let me know what you think.

You are looking at the entrance to the grand Meadowbrook Mansion. This is the door handle to the front entrance gate of the mansion. The rust in the handle tells you a bit about how old it is, and the detail in the handle shows the craftsmanship of the metal artist that heated the steel and formed the piece.

What's wrong with this photo?

I took this photo thinking it was a great shot. While I was standing there looking though the viewfinder I was smiling at the great shot I was seeing. My intent was to take a photo of a doorway and I thought he framing of this shot with this amazing fountain would make the door stand out. But now after reviewing the file I feel that it has the opposite effect. What do you think of this photo? I'm looking for constructive criticism here, so fire away.

I love signs and think they serve a great purpose. Some signs are a bit obvious and unnecessary. This sign found on a photo walk in New Orleans last January was one of those "Captain Obvious" signs.

I've been traveling and unable to post. I'm in Boston right now and I should be able to capture some of this awesome city.

I found these two boys having a conversation on a door step in the French Quarter. I love many things about this photo including the reflections of the New Orleans buildings in the window, the color of the door, the shape of the window above the door, the torn awning cover, and the cracks on the walls. I attempted to frame this shot using the golden ratio, but I may have violated that a bit. I don't know what these boys were talking about, but the one on the right seems thoroughly interested in what the boy on the right has to say.
