Symmetry

DIA Perspective

I was immediately drawn to this sculpture today because of the symmetry of the lines and how fluid it looked.

Extreme Makeover Home Edition Fireman Sculpture

Fire Sculpture
Extreme Makeover Fire Edition

This is my brother's sculpture that he donated for a Toledo fireman for the TV show "Extreme Makeover Home edition." My brother and I spent the day in an art booth in Ohio attempting to sell our work. His amazing metal work sold very well today, but my photographs did not. While we were there a fireman from the Toledo fire department came up to my brother and thanked him for donating his piece. He said that it was wonderfully lit with solar lighting and was the centerpiece for the entrance. Check out my bro's work at http://www.maurermetals.com

Oh, and if anyone wants to purchase any of my prints that did not sell today (that would be all of them), they can be obtained from the following website: http://www.pictage.com/548164

Olentangy Peace

Olentangy Peace

A walk along the Olentangy river in Columbus Ohio brings you to this magnificent statue. A fixture of the Battelle Riverfront Park, this sculpture sits in front of a replica ship of the Santa Maria. Our goal was to see the ship, but it was not as spectacular as anticipated. This sculpture was much more fascinating to me. I was unable to find the name of the sculptor, so if someone is able to figure it out, please leave a comment.

Always carry your camera

Rainy Dawn

One of the first things I learned about photography was to always carry your camera. Today I was rewarded with this shoot at the Warren Community center in Warren Michigan. This massive sculpture bears the signature of David Barr and it is called Dawn. Without knowing it, I have already seen David's striking work in many locations including Hart Plaza in Detroit and the Flint Bishop Airport. This sculpture caught my attention right away and forced me to end my phone call to take the shots. The rain was heavy at times and I didn't expect to have a photo opportunity. This shot was taken with my 18 to 55mm Nikkor Lense at 23mm. The ISO was 100 at f4 with 1/800 exposure time since I was looking directly into the clouds.
