Rear Curtain Riding

This couple wanted pictures of themselves on this bike because they love riding together.  As soon as they mentioned it I thought of this idea.  I set the camera to 1/10 of a second and set the flash to fire at the end of the exposure (rear curtain.)  Then I moved the camera as I opened the shutter and poof, this gem of a photo came out.  I love how the lights in the background streak across the frame while the camera's flash stops the couple in motion so that they are in focus.  If your camera has a rear sync function I highly suggest messing around with it.

This is not terribly in focus because my dog was pulling on the leash at the time of this shot, but not every shot needs to be in focus in order to tell the story. I think there's a neat story here, and I liked how I was able to compose this shot.
